I accidentally tripped over a milestone
OOPS! Maybe they should move those rocks – someone could get hurt!
Has it really been TWO YEARS since I started working on this website? How do I celebrate my two-year anniversary with a website that is still in the testing stage? But I’m close! Just a few more things to tweak, and it’ll be ready to launch. Like a ship. Because it seems big enough to be an ocean liner. Lord knows a ship-building crew would be finished by now.
But unlike christening a ship, I’m not going to smash a perfectly good bottle of champagne over the bow of this website. (I guess the bow would correspond to the HOME page.) No, I’ll drink it instead!
All ship analogies aside (overboard? Help! I can’t stop!)…
AHEM!!! Starting over…
All ship analogies aside, I made a major breakthrough yesterday (well, this morning at 3:00 am). I finally got the payment integration working. After searching vainly for two days for explanations, instructions, tips – anything – that would clue me in to why it wasn’t working. I looked at API and REST and webhooks, to no avail. And finally a little light bulb came on in my sleep-deprived brain.
I figured out the one tiny detail that had been throwing everything off. It wasn’t a coding error. It was simply that I didn’t know what to put in a particular blank. Finding what I needed to put in that blank turned out to be more of a challenge than I expected. But I searched and searched and searched until I was blue in the face. And still I didn’t give up. And then … I found it. That elusive input needed to make it all work.
I felt like I’d struck gold. I wanted to scream and jump up and down. But I knew I shouldn’t. Not at 3:00 in the morning. Other people in the house might not appreciate it.
You know what, I think I will have that bottle of champagne after all. I feel like celebrating! And then I’m gonna crash and sleep for a few days.
