Lana Turner: Hollywood Royalty “Portrait of an Era” FAO Schwarz Giftset /2009 LT005 & Barbie Hollywood Movie Stars “Between Takes” Gown /2000 27684 – (Redressed)

$78.99

DRESSED. This Integrity Toys representation of Lana Turner, the Hollywood “golden age” MGM studio movie actress who rose to fame in the 1940s and 50s, is a stunning lady with short golden blonde hair in original vintage factory style, heavily gelled to stay in place. She is like new, out of the box, on her original “wasp waist” Japan tone tall body, with pale blue eyes and applied lashes in fairly good shape. Admittedly, this doll is not a perfect likeness of Ms. Turner when compared to commonly available photos of the actress. However, with her serene expression, this doll expertly channels reserved Hollywood royalty – and, not to diminish Ms. Turner, we dare to say this doll seems more beautiful and sophisticated than the actress herself in her prime.

Mini Lana comes wearing a pair of tiny stud “diamond earrings. Also included is the sublimely elegant pale mint green satin floor-length mermaid gown she’s modeling, from the Barbie Hollywood Movie Stars “Between Takes” doll by Mattel. The gown features a lavish back train, front pleated chiffon inset at the knees, and large serge-hemmed train of chiffon split and secured at the back of the waist to form twin bundled swaths positioned under each arm, going up over the chest area, and secured just below the neck with a gold detailed brooch/medallion. Twin necklace-like triple strands of tiny white faux pearls, attached to the medallion/brooch, create halter straps that fasten at the back of the neck with an “S” hook and loop. Snaps secure the back of the dress. Also included is a bracelet fashioned from matching tiny faux white pearls strung on a double strand of stretch beading thread so that the bracelet easily slips on over the hand. And finally, a pair of standard white flex-vinyl “Candi” strappy heels that fit a variety of fashion dolls is included.

Don’t miss the chance to add this stunning doll to your collection!

Description

*NOTE 1: Doll vinyl will often become more brittle and delicate with age, as chemical softeners added to the vinyl in the manufacturing process will diminish over time. Fashion Royalty dolls are made of a harder vinyl than most play line dolls, so stress points (neck and other joint locations) on their bodies will tend to become more delicate. Please use care when posing/redressing/storing older dolls, as joints – especially the neck – can become stiff and brittle and more susceptible to breakage. If a head on an older FR doll will not turn or tilt with minimal pressure, DO NOT FORCE, as this could cause breakage.

*NOTE 2: This gown could use a nice steam to smooth out some of the material kinks. While the gown looks absolutely stunning on this Lana Turner doll, she’s a bit too busty, and this garment is an extremely tight fit, requiring the pearl neck straps to be fastened first, then the mid-back snap, then lastly the waist-level back snap. We cannot recommend this gown be showcased permanently on this doll due to the stress on the seams and other structural components, but are nevertheless including it as bonus clothing item that may be used with other dolls with body proportions more in line with the gown’s tailoring.

*NOTE 3: Vinyl/plastic shoes forced onto a doll where the fit is tight can suffer damage if left in a stressed position for a period of time. The shoes are likely to split at the seams, or stressed straps may snap apart. It is not advised to force shoes on doll’s feet when the fit is so tight that the vinyl/plastic becomes malformed or seems stretched.

*NOTE 4: Earrings with metal insert posts may pose a problem if left too long on a vinyl doll – especially if the vinyl is aging badly (seeping vinyl softener additives, or otherwise deteriorating – typical of very old vintage dolls more than 50 years old). Also extreme heat or moisture may create problems like mold or green ear. It’s advisable to check dolls periodically for problems when metal is in constant contact with vinyl. It is advisable to remove metal jewelry if a doll is being kept in storage for any length of time.
