NRFB. 2002 56706 UPC 074299567063. Limited Edition. This new-in-box KEN doll is the first-issue in the Silkstone line and has an upgraded “traditional” Ken face sculpt used for vintage dolls, with black rooted hair. This giftset comes with:
- Silkstone Ken doll wearing blue check boxers, white undershirt, black socks, and sock garters (which were a thing in the 50s and 60s)
- Black and white tweed suit with jacket and pants
- White long-sleeve shirt with attached blue “silk” tie
- Accessories – black pleather belt, black vinyl business loafers, black pleather briefcase, gray-frame glasses with blue-tinted lenses, “Fashion Photo” magazine, and take-out coffee cup
The box is structurally sound and in overall visibly good shape, with very few flaws – a few scuffs on plastic cover, visible only in direct bright light, a small crease on bottom panel, and a small scuff/indentation on top left facing front. ABOUT SILKSTONE: From the Mattel Barbie Fashion Model Collection designed by Robert Best, these are premium one-sixth-scale collector dolls manufactured/released 2000-2020. Each doll features a glam version of the original vintage Barbie face sculpt and comes with superior hair fiber and styling. The original Silkstone body is made of heavier, smoother material with a more luxurious feel than play vinyl dolls, with a classically traditional fashion silhouette, twist waist, and backward/forward shoulder and hip movement. Classic Silkstone dolls are a perennial favorite model for high-end doll couturiers and collectors.
NOTE: Ken dolls issued in the Silkstone line typically have solid torso, arms, and legs, with otherwise similar articulation to the Silkstone Barbie dolls, except for neck articulation which only rotates side to side with no tilt.
